A MAINE WINDJAMMER

A DAY ON BOARD

A day aboard the Tree of Life begins in the soft hush of early morning, with a cup of warm coffee enjoyed at sunrise as the schooner rests in a still, sheltered cove. The gentle glow of dawn plays across the water while the enticing aromas of the chef’s breakfast drift up from the galley, inviting you to ease into the day. After breakfast, we set sail, the canvas billowing overhead as the islands of Penobscot Bay slip gracefully past. Bald eagles wheel above the pines, porpoises stitch through the water at our bow, and now and then a whale surfaces—quiet reminders of the wild beauty surrounding us. Lunch is served on deck as we glide across open sea, followed by afternoons spent wandering quaint fishing villages or exploring the hidden paths of remote islands. At some point each and every trip we’ll savor a traditional lobster bake on the beach; while others evenings lead us to a tranquil anchorage where dinner is enjoyed beneath a canopy of stars. And when the night settles in, the gentle lap of the tide and the whisper of the wind cradle you into a deep, restorative sleep—luxury, nature, and timeless sailing woven seamlessly into a single perfect day.

THE LOBSTER BAKE

A lobster bake with the Tree of Life is a truly timeless Maine tradition, made even more special when enjoyed on a secluded island all to ourselves. As the crew steams fresh-caught lobsters in sea water over an open fire, the aroma drifts across the shore, mingling with the scent of pine and salt. Guests gather at white-tablecloth tables, complete with all the proper tools for cracking into a perfect Maine lobster, while kerosene lanterns cast a soft, golden glow as evening settles in. It’s an elegant yet rustic feast—simple, authentic, and unforgettable—set against the unparalleled beauty of Penobscot Bay.
